About the role

Introduction

Permanent | Cape Town | Hybrid

A South African retailer is seeking a Credit Risk Analyst to develop and strengthen credit strategies for unsecured cash and revolving loan products.

The role combines analytical work with practical implementation across the credit lifecycle. You will use customer performance data to improve acquisition policies, credit limits and exposure management, working closely with business and technology teams.

Role ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement acquisition credit risk policies and credit limit calculations for cash and revolving loans.

  • Analyse existing risk strategies and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Design and execute A/B testing strategies.

  • Define exposure management rules based on customer performance.

  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts and IT teams to implement solutions that support evolving business needs.

  • Advise Marketing and Collections teams on strategies to improve their operations.

  • Produce regular and ad-hoc monitoring and analytical reports.

  • Mentor and develop junior analysts.

Experience RequirementsExpertise in credit risk scorecard development and the application of risk strategies.

  • Strong analytical and presentation skills, including the ability to query, interpret and communicate findings from data.

  • Programming proficiency in SQL, Python, R or SAS.

  • Exposure to acquisition, marketing, account management and collections would be advantageous.

  • A self-motivated approach, with reliable delivery against deadlines.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, attention to detail and a methodical approach.

  • Adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to build productive relationships with colleagues, customers and vendors.

  • Effective teamwork and the ability to contribute to cross-functional projects.

Education Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a STEM field is essential.
