Role Responsibilities:
As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines and cloud-based architectures using GCP. You’ll be the backbone behind key data flows, enabling analysts and data scientists to generate insights that guide strategic decisions. The role blends infrastructure, automation, and collaboration - with the opportunity to influence technical direction and streamline model deployment in a fast-paced, high-impact team.
Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines using GCP technologies (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage)
Develop and automate ETL processes, transforming raw data into clean, structured formats for analytics
Support analytics, credit, and HR teams by ensuring clean, performant infrastructure
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise cloud workflows for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Contribute to a collaborative MLOps environment (approx. 20% of the role)
Document architecture, pipelines, and data models for cross-team clarity
Advise on best practices and influence technical decisions at senior levels
Experience Requirements:
5+ years’ experience in data engineering or a similar role
Strong hands-on expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Proficiency in BigQuery, Python, SQL, and data modelling
Demonstrated experience building, automating, and monitoring data pipelines
Proven success in cost optimisation of cloud-based systems
Familiarity with data lakehouse concepts
Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills
Experience in financial services is an advantage
Passion for agile, high-growth environments with rapid model implementation cycles
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field preferred
Equivalent practical experience and demonstrated capability will be considered
